USA Gymnastics has announced that two-time all-around world champion, Simone Biles has accepted an invitation to compete at the American Cup this March.
So far, Simone is the only competitor to have been announced. It's not officially known who will compete, but since the American Cup is an "official" FIG world cup, attendees selected are chosen from the top eight all-around finishers at the World Championships. If anyone of those athletes decline, the event organizers can invite competitors who placed up to 12th place. After, that, the countries who are in the top 8 can chose to send an athlete of their choosing.
Past competitors include Mary Lou Retton, Nastia Liukin, last year's winner Elizabeth "Ebee" Price and the winner of the inaugural American Cup, Nadia Comaneci herself. There are new up and coming seniors who will be eager to prove their worth, names that come to mind, young Bailie "I win everything all the time" Key and Nia "My standing Arabian on beam is so much better than yours" Dennis. Simone herself made her senior debut at the American Cup in 2013, where she took second place behind Katelyn Ohashi of WOGA.
The American Cup will be held March 7 in Dallas, Texas at the AT&T Stadium (known to football fans as the home of the Dallas Cowboys).
