Keeping Up With the Round Lake Gymnasts: Injuries and Illness

It's time to wrap the Round Lake gymnasts in bubble and maybe douse every inch of that place in bleach.

It's injuries and illness galore over there.

Ksenia Afanasyeva just had surgery on her ankle, again. She posted this picture of her ankle in a boot. My sources tell me that she'll have to wear that boot for three weeks. Appropriate since this is the third time she's injured that ankle. Word on the street is that Ksenia injured her ankle at Russian Championships a few weeks back.

At least Ksenia is in good company. Viktoria Komova was in Germany with Ksenia having surgery for her own injury she sustained a few weeks ago.

Ekaterina Kramarenko is sick or injured or something. Elizabeth of Rewriting Russian gymnastics posts that she was in the hospital on an IV drip. Needless to say, she won't be at Euros. It's reported that Anna Rodionova will be replacing her.

Last, but not least, the current Queen of Russian Gymnastics, Aliya Mustafina is suffering from a potential injury as well. She'll still be at Euros, but word on the street is that she'll only be doing beam and bars because she's been having leg pain.
