Rio for Chuso? I think so!

My over 30 idol, Oksana Chusovitina is going for Rio!

The Federation International de Gymnastique (FIG) announced Friday 37-year-old World and Olympic champion and medalist many times over would be going for her seventh Olympic championships
. She was competing for Germany where she moved to get treatment for her now 14-year-old son, Alisher who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Her coaches in Germany, Shanna and Peter Bruggemann helped raised money for the boy's treatment and Chuso and her husband, Bakhodir Kurbanov (also an Olympian) relocated to Germany. However, she will not be competing for Germany, she'll be competing for her native Uzbekistan.

If she makes it to Rio, this will be Chuso's seventh Olympic Games. That feat is impressive in and of itself. Her career alone has spanned 25 as an elite gymnast and she started in 1982. I'm all for it, I hope that she makes the team to Rio. It's always refreshing to see an actual woman competing in women's gymnastics, a sport that's dominated by mostly teenagers who can barely drive. Chuso has said that competing with these young girls keeps her young. She looks frickin fantastic, so I guess she's found her fountain of youth.

Well, I think I will be doing extra crunches at the gym this week to obtain my new goal of getting abs like that.
