Nastia and Bridget Go to College

2013 marks a new year and new beginnings.

For gymnasts Nastia Liukin and Bridget Sloan, a new beginning means leaving behind their old lives as Olympians and World Champions to start a new life as college students. Ahh, college, some of the best times of my life so far, but we're not talking about me. Bridget is in her freshman year at the University of Florida in Gainseville. Nastia is attending NYU and studying sports management.

Bridget made her NCAA debut yesterday competing for the University of Florida Gators.
Bridget, the 2009 World Champion, graduated high school in 2011 from high school but deferred her enrollment to the fall semester of 2012 to focus on another Olympic bid. Bridget is in good company. Her Florida teammates include 2010 World Championship team-member Mackenzie Caquatto and her younger sister Bridgette. She's also in good company with other former elite international gymnasts, Marissa King of Great Britain and Kytra Hunter.

Yesterday, the Gators had their season opener against Ball State, which they won with a total score of 196.575. Bridget competed vault, beam and bars, contributing a 9.925, 9.8 and 9.8 respectively.

2008 Olympic Champion Nastia Liukin has left the huge Texas hair behind and has moved to New York City to attend the celebrity happy New York University. Per NYUlocal, Nastia is going to enter the Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management and will major in sports management starting the 2013 spring semester. Good choice for her. Per her Twitter Nastia is officially in NYC and is getting ready to start classes soon (I assume).

And the next chapter starts today... Hi New York ✨❤
